A police spokesperson in Kenya said that an autopsy has confirmed Davido’s three-year-old son died because he was smothered in the bath at Nairobi’s Nairobi Central Police Station last Monday.

The body was handed over to a family member.

Police want to know why the nanny was left alone with Davido’s son and it is alleged she locked herself in the bathroom and refused to let anyone near him.

In a statement, police spokesman David Kimai said: “Police are investigating and we are in contact with the family. We have arrested the suspect.

“We are hoping to gather more information and we request the media not to publish their names at this time.

“We have a statement from the police in the national capital (Nairobi). We don’t know the exact situation.”

Police investigators are seeking to find out whether there is any link between this incident and a similar incident in October, when Davido was reported to have beaten his two year old daughter with a bat.

Davido had not appeared in court on the charges relating to that beating and his arrest in that case is being examined.

Nairobi police said that Davido was in the country to promote his new music album.

The Nigerian singer is a world figure who is popular in both Africa and beyond.

In April, Davido was awarded the MBE (Member of the British Empire), by Queen Elizabeth, as well as a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The Grammy Award-winning musician has two Grammy nominations this year, for Best New Artist and Best Album, while his music has been featured on such US television programmes as Glee and Grey’s Anatomy.

Davido has lived mainly in Africa for the past 11 years, and has two daughters, a son and a new baby boy who was born in February.

The singer also has six
