CBS cancels Gomez’ appearance at the Tonight Show

Selena Gomez cancels ‘Tonight Show’ appearance after contracting COVID-19

She had been scheduled to appear, as expected, on Tuesday. Her appearance will have been rescheduled for March 17.

Singer-songwriter Gomez is expected to be released from hospital after testing positive for COVID-19.

“The health and well-being of our team, staff and artists are our first priority,” CBS said in a statement. “We are working closely with Dr. Birx and taking appropriate precautions, like canceling performances and postponing live events.”

“Please know that I have not been told that CBS canceled my performance,” Gomez said in a statement issued through a representative on Wednesday.

“I was looking forward to having fun and performing in an intimate and fun way. I just want to confirm with the fans that I have not been told that I failed to appear on next Tuesday’s show. The health and well-being of my team and my family are always priority number one. I will continue to do what I can to fight in this fight. Thank you.”

Gomez had already been set to attend the show in Los Angeles on March 15. The singer-songwriter will appear online on the network’s website at late-night.cbs.com/todayshow.

“We are deeply saddened to learn of the news of Robin’s status and will continue to work with our studio, our artists and our partners,” CBS said in a statement.

Acting on a tip, Los Angeles Police Department investigators and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Crimes Unit began investigating Wednesday evening after Gomez’ family confirmed the singer was diagnosed with COVID-19. Officials say she is currently in stable condition.

Officials did not elaborate on the severity of her condition, but it’s been confirmed that the singer is battling respiratory complications.

Gomez’ publicist issued a statement on Tuesday explaining why the singer is canceling her appearance at the show.

The statement read in part: “Please know that I have not been told that
